Hi, I’m Mark PilandMark Piland

You may want to know what kind of guy this pastor is. One who has been reconciled to God by his grace! Ever since I became a believer at age 19, I can’t get over the marvelous riches of the grace our God gives us. It has transformed my life.

It is a blessing to be a pastor to the people at Oak Hills Community Church. It is just incredible to me that I have the opportunity to study the Bible and teach God’s transforming truths. The Psalmist said, “Let me proclaim your power to this new generation.” (Psalm 71:18, NLT) This is my opportunity, and it brings incredible joy.

My partner in life and ministry is my wife, Debbie. A counselor by training and vocation, she complements me in many ways. We have two sons, John and Matt. Our family is rounded out by our two dogs, Shelly & Misty.

Hi, I'm Gary RayGary Ray

I have the privilege of being the Music Minister here at Oak Hills Community Church! I can't believe I get to do this for a living! Isn't God great!

I have been married to my lovely bride Kelly since 2000. She is a lawyer by training and a writer by trade. The organization that she is a part of is trying to teach ethics to this generation of business, educational, and governmental leaders (good idea don't you think?). We adopted our two wonderful children, Alex and Maria, in 2003. It is a blessing from God that they are part of our family. Misha, our Shiba Inu/Golden Retriever mix, rounds out our family and is officially "the cutest dog ever" according to a random, slightly skewed pole.

My goal is to lead people in authentic corporate worship! I love to accomplish this through a blend of contemporary and traditional music, video, and the occasional dramatic presentation. I use my Bachelor's in music and Master's  in Christian Education to attempt to create a musically interesting and theologically accurate service so that we may all "worship Him in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24).

Hi, I'm Gershom Wetzel . . .Gershom Wetzel

and this is my young bride, Beth. Okay, I'm going to do the boring thing and just give you all a list of stuff I am into besides her. Here goes. Prepare to be amazed...or asleep. J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, drama, anime/manga, movies, film-making, science-fiction, photoshop, comic books, concerts, chess, writing (researching and writing scripts and screenplays; poetry, and stories), reading, painting and drawing.

My hero is Jesus the Messiah. I know there are a lot of opinions about who Jesus really is, but I think that's because we tend to complicate the simple: He's the Son of God and the Savior of Mankind. There, that wasn't so hard, was it? My grandparents - definitely next in line. They've given a lot.

Oh yeah, I get to be the Youth Pastor for an awesome bunch of teens!

Hi, I'm Gayman HelmanGayman Helman

My interests and gifts lie in the areas of Bible teaching and missions including evangelism. Here at Oak Hills I not only work with an excellent group of teachers committed to our elementary age kids both guiding and ministering to them in Sunday School and Children’s Church but am also the overseer of our international leadership training ministry EQUIPP. Our goal is to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment to help our kids understand age-relevant spiritual truth so that they can grow and mature as Christians learning to live godly at home and in their “communities”.

From 1988-91, our family served as tentmaker missionaries in East Asia where we were engaged in evangelism and a disciple-making ministry. My lifelong burden has been to see the great commission of our Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled. Because of this, I have a commitment to share the gospel and develop a focus at Oak Hills Church for local and cross-cultural missions. We do this through monthly “Mission’s Highlights” and prayer in our morning service as well as in our LIFE groups.

A little about me personally, I am married to my high school sweetheart, Mary-Alice, and we have three children – Abby, Peter, and Samuel. My background is in veterinary medicine where I have taught in several major state universities over the past 25 years. After receiving Christ as a young adult, I was blessed to work in a Navigator community ministry for 4 years. I am currently completing my Masters of Divinity at Columbia International University in Columbia, SC. In addition to serving God here at Oak Hills Community Church, I have a long-term desire to see an evangelical Bible College started in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area.

We live in Argyle and would love to see you on Sunday and have the opportunity to meet you and to minister to you and your children.
