As you look around we hope you will get to know us and perhaps join us for worship.
Here at Oak Hills, we are interested in you. We want to include you in fulfilling our mission which is to “Glorify God by Making Disciples of all People.” Since we all have room to grow, we provide opportunities to grow in your relationship with God whether you have been a follower of Jesus for a short or a long time.
If there is anything we can do to help you grow in your relationship with God, please give us a call at 940-464-3270 or e-mail us at email@example.com. We are here to help.
Pastor Mark (& Debbie) Piland
INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK
This is the second week of Lent so let’s continue with Jesus’ journey into the village from Mark 11:7-10; When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”
“Hosanna in the highest!”
PRAY FOR THOSE IN NEED
Continue to pray for Maria. She is still a lost sheep trying to find her way and she needs our prayers to guidance. Please join Vince in prayer for the Lauderdale family, missionaries in Budapest. They are hosting a missionary family evacuated from the Ukraine. Continue to pray for Ukraine and Venezuela. Pray that Cindy Goetz will receive the support she needs for her mission trip to Brazil this summer. Continue to pray for the two Alex’s who are serving our country in the Navy. Continue to pray for John Piland and his job interview.
PRAISES FOR ANSWERED PRAYERS
Trudy reports that her son Art has been able to come home. He was told that had he not been in the great physical shape he is in he would have had a fatal heart attack in this 40′s. Let this be an inspiration to all of us to get in shape! Todd Wilburn reports that his meeting last Wednesday went much better than anticipated. Jeanette Overs thanks everyone for prayers as she has made the decision for her new position. Also, her husband’s back surgery was successful and he is improving.
If you are interested in contributing to our Steeple Fund, please put your contribution in an envelope marked “Steeple”, or label it with a post-it note and place it in the offering or in the box at the back of the auditorium. We are making very good progress in our effort. Please remember that your contribution is tax deductible. Thanks!
The Ladies Choir is singing on Easter Sunday (April 20) and we will be meeting in the Youth Room this Sundaymorning to decide on music. See Kathy or Evelyn for more information.
Also, we would love to have the brass instruments play on Easter as they did at Christmas. However, we do not have the budget for this expense. If anyone would be willing to give towards this to make our Easter service even more special, please see Gary or Kathy on Sunday!
Along with the birthdays we have listed in the Directory, it would be nice to have everyone’s anniversary date. Of course we don’t need the year – just the happy occasion date. If you would like to list yours, please send it to Evelyn and Rose. Also, if you have any changes in the Directory information such as address, phone number, or email address be sure to let Evelyn know. Also let Rose know so it can be included in our weekly Newsletter.
MISSIONARIES AND CORRESPONDENCE
Let us continue to pray for our missionaries and you can find their letters on the board. Also, both Alex’s would enjoy hearing from you. And let’s not forget our friend, Evelyn Pettyjohn. See Rose if you need the addresses of these people or there is someone else you feel we should have correspondence with to encourage their growth in the Lord.
JOURNEY OF FAITH WRITING WORKSHOP
April 5 and 6 are the dates for our Workshop with Carey Kinsolving. Registration is only $20 and this is for your entire family. See Pastor Mark for more information.
CALL FOR PRAYER AND FASTING
Our elders have committed to pray that God would send new families to be a part of our body and that He would enable each of us to minister effectively to them. To this end the elders have committed to pray for 30 minutes each of the next 4 Saturday mornings (March 15 through April 6). Please consider joining them. And for those who are able and are highly committed to this, consider fasting as well.
